Music

Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.

~Psalm 33:1-4

THE IMPORTANCE OF WORSHIP

Fulfilling Harbor's mission begins and ends with worship. Worship is our acknowledgment of God's sovereign glory and our grateful response to his grace. At Harbor, we believe the greatest purpose of mankind is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Worshipping God is what humans are made to do. Meditating on God's amazing love for us, expressed in the cross of Jesus Christ, causes us to fall more and more in love with him. As a result, we are made able and willing to love those around us. We commend to others what we cherish, and true worship leads us to serve the good of our neighbor. Worship changes people, and changed people change homes and neighborhoods and offices, and eventually whole cities and beyond. Worship is both our response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our motive for telling others about Him. The mission of Harbor Church is therefore fueled by the worship of God.

MUSIC AND WORSHIP
Worship is more than music; worship is our whole response to what God has done. At Harbor, our response as a community includes singing, speaking, praying, sharing, hearing the Word preached and coming to the Lord's table. Our worship music is a corporate meditation on God's attributes and deeds through beautiful melody and Gospel-centered lyrics. The role of the musician is to facilitate the creation of a communal work of art, made by the entire congregation in response to an audience of One.
